Not an HRH, but a Lady

The couple have decided to break with tradition to prevent their daughter having the title Princess or Her Royal Highness.

In a bid to remain low-key, they sought permission from the Queen to breach rules stating that children of the monarch's sons should take the royal title. The baby, who has not yet been named, will take the courtesy title of Lady, the prefix given to the daughter of an Earl and a Countess.

A royal source said: "They have decided the child won't be an HRH. They are worried people will think they are being grand and that's something they have been trying to get away from."
