New leads in murder hunt

Detectives hunting for the partner of a mother-of-two whose body was discovered in the boot of a car have received "significant" leads.

Inga Losiene is thought to have lain dead in the car for more than a week before her body was discovered.

Detectives hunting her partner Farik Farukh, 32, said they have had two "significant" tip-offs about the Iraqi Kurd. A police spokesman said: "We have had 64 calls and messages so far from Southend, Suffolk and the West Midlands where Mr Farukh is known to have links.

"Over the last 48 hours a couple of people have come forward with information that is being treated as significant." Police launched a murder investigation when the body of Ms Losiene, 32, who was Lithuanian, was found inside the boot of a Vauxhall Astra car at Southend East railway station.

Detectives believe the motheroftwo had been murdered at her home, 400 yards away, on 27 May or early the following morning. Her partner, a 32-year-old asylum seeker, had driven her 11-year- old daughter and six-year-old son to a babysitter in Ipswich on 27 May and has not been seen since finishing a shift at the bar he worked at the following Sunday.

Ms Losiene lived with her two children from a previous relationship and Mr Farukh in a quiet suburb of Southend for almost a year.

They were described by neighbours as a "perfect and devoted couple".
