Ms Dynamite's new look

Ms Dynamite is the hottest talent to emerge on the London music scene for many years - and today she won another award to add to her bulging trophy cabinet.

The heavily pregnant rapper wowed the Capital FM awards as she scooped the prize for London's favourite female vocalist.

However, another of Britain's biggest stars - Coldplay singer Chris Martin - snubbed the awards, in aid of the radio station's Help A London Child charity, despite his band being voted the station's favourite UK band.

Evening Standard tracked down the singer, boyfriend of Gwyneth Paltrow, as he lunched with friends at the Osteria Basilico restaurant in Kensington Park Road, Notting Hill - while the awards were being handed out a few miles away at the Royal Lancaster Hotel, Lancaster Gate.

Martin ate salad and drank still water while his two male friends drank bottles of Italian lager. At one point, the singer courteously left the restaurant to make a mobile phone call to Paltrow, telling her he was "really nervous" about his band's Earls Court gig tonight.

The Hollywood star is expected to be there to watch her boyfriend. The pair started dating last year after Martin dedicated a song to her at a concert.

Coldplay beat Oasis, Stereophonics and Travis to win Capital's favourite British band.

Ms Dynamite, meanwhile, saw off stiff competition from Girls Aloud reject Sarah Whatmore, Beverley Knight and Sophie Ellis Bextor.

Boyband Blue, who scooped a hat-trick last year, won the award for London's favourite UK group.

Liberty X won favourite UK single and former Pop Idol winner Will Young took the best newcomer award.

Sugababes Keisha, Mutya and Heidi picked up the Capital album chart award, beating Blue, Coldplay and Atomic Kitten.

Ms Dynamite's album A Little Deeper won the Mercury prize last year, and this year she also won the pop award at the South Bank Show Awards and a Brit award as Best British Urban Act.
