Michael Jackson police raid doctor’s home and office

Federal drugs agents and police raided the home and office of Michael Jackson's doctor today in a widening investigation into whether the singer was killed by a powerful anaesthetic.

Authorities in Los Angeles are looking into whether Dr Conrad Murray could be accused of manslaughter for giving the singer propofol to help him sleep.

Such charges against a doctor are extremely rare, and police would have to show there was a reckless action that created a risk of death.

After a three-hour search of Dr Murray's home in a gated community, officers took away five or six plastic storage containers and several thick manila envelopes. They also checked his medical offices in the city, Global Cardiovascular Associates Inc, for nine hours and removed boxes.

Dr Murray told investigators he gave propofol to Jackson the night he died. Officials said he left Jackson sedated in his bedroom and returned to find him not breathing.
