Met race row lawyer hits out

A LAWYER at the centre of the Met police race row who is attempting to sue legal watchdogs for millions today accused them of "deplorable behaviour".

Shahrokh Mireskandari, 47, is claiming race and religious discrimination against the Law Society and the Solicitors Regulation Authority. The Iranian- born solicitor represented former assistant commissioner Tarique Ghaffur in his race claim against the Met.

The SRA suspended Mr Mireskandari's certificate to practise as a solicitor.Fears had been raised that he had breached solicitors' rules over handling money, allegations he denies.

A hearing at central London employment tribunal was adjourned.
