Meikle mixes with royalty

After his recent exploits at the centre of the football gang-rape controversy, 'party organiser' Nicholas Meikle might have been expected to keep a low profile.

Instead, the 29-year-old South Londoner is revelling in his new-found fame.

This weekend found him in Monte Carlo, where he gleefully rubbed shoulders with royalty.

Meikle, who was arrested in connection with an alleged assault on a 17-yearold girl by a group of footballers at the Grosvenor House Hotel, joined a starstudded dinner attended by Prince Albert of Monaco.

He chatted to the prince at the lavish party held at the Hotel De Paris, one of the world's most sumptuous and expensive venues.

He also spent some time talking to German supermodel Heidi Klum.

Other celebrities who dined alongside Prince Albert on Saturday night included singers Macy Gray, Pink and Mariah Carey, Terminator 3 actress Kristanna Loken and tennis star Anna Kournikova.

Meikle later joined the prince and other stars at the exclusive nightclub Jimmy'z - where a glass of wine costs £25 - in the early hours of yesterday.

He was in Monte Carlo for the annual World Music Awards, which last night were presented by Anna Kournikova. On the tennis court, she rarely seems to turn on the style nowadays.

But in the world of showbiz, she has no such problems. The leggy 22-year-old's blonde locks tumbled over a green and silver floor-length Versace gown. Her boyfriend, singer Enrique Iglesias, was unable to be there, but he sent his halfbrother Julio Junior to keep an eye on her.

Russian Miss Kournikova, 22, said: 'Obviously I know Julio very well so it's good he's here to watch out for me.'
