Meet London's new party people

London's social topography is changing. What with Kate Moss and Sadie Frost both pregnant, a calmer Tara Palmer-Tomkinson settling down with property-dealer boyfriend Anton Bilton, Jade Jagger chilling in Ibiza and Lady Victoria Hervey planning to spend more time in LA, a new set of girls have hit town.

Lotharios will have to start new little black books, while photographers, clipboard Nazis, rope-lifters, list-makers and party planners will have to learn a new set of names. And aren't we all just a little bit relieved?

For so many years the same old names have dominated the capital's canapé landscape, hogging the flashbulbs at charity bashes and shop openings and stealing the headlines in the redtops. We have grown to love every little bit of their squiffy Itness, but isn't it time for fresh blood? Well, warm those banquettes and fire up those credit cards, chaps, because it's time to play with the new generation. Enter the Teen-Its.

Many teenage Its enjoyed their London premiere a fortnight ago. In the same way football teams parade their summer signings at the beginning of the season, hotel chain heiress Paris Hilton's 21st birthday bash at The Stork Rooms served as a curtain-raiser to the social season and a coming-out party for the new girls.

Chelsea Clinton might have hit the headlines as she partied with the near-naked Hiltons, but at the real eye-of-the-storm was a new, less well-known set who flirted in a predatory, but cruelly ironic, way with poor little Enrique Iglesias, took the mickey out of Paris as they necked her free champagne before heading for last orders, over the road at Kabaret.

"The new ones remind me of the Chelsea girls of the Sixties and Eighties," says Stork Room proprietor and Teen-It hero Piers Adam. "Only these days, the Chelsea girl thing is an attitude rather than just a post code. People used to be snobby, but today nobody cares which part of town you come from.The new girls are rather scary," continues Adam. "They are very young, very sophisticated, articulate and well travelled. Lots of them even have proper jobs. They are not jaded by London and find the West End exciting and adventurous."

So who are they? Well, a few of their surnames will be familiar (the paparazzi and the gossip columnists love a girl with a recognisable surname) because the notorious Hiltons - that's Nicky and Paris - are not the only sister act in town. There's also Octavia Khashoggi, the beautiful, younger sister of Petrina Khashoggi, and Alexandra Aitken, Rose and Marina Hanbury - the impossibly gorgeous daughters, both still in their teens, of Tim Hanbury, one of Sir Jimmy Goldsmith's old muckers - and Sienna and Savannah Miller, the stepdaughters of society designer Kelly Hoppen.

Another new arrival is Fran Hickman, 17, the feline sister of Caroline Hickman (once engaged to Piers Adam and now dating Steve Coogan), widely acknowledged as the most fancied girl in London - she has already been seen on the arm of the ubiquitously incorrigible DJ/producer Nellee Hooper. Or how about Patrick Lichfield's daughter, Eloise Anson, who is Philip Treacy's muse, supermodel Jacquetta Wheeler, pneumatic fashion designer Gabby Harris, or Georgie Orsich - the beautiful social engineer who works for Woodhead/Calliva running Wednesdays at China White and Fridays at Attica.

What about the guys? Surely the likes of Tim Jefferies and Co are, literally, old enough to be their fathers. "Well, night life's evolutionary cycle is very unfair," says Piers Adam, gingerly. "While the girls get married, move on, grow up, mature and get replaced, the boys manage to live in nocturnal limbo, maintaining a strange, unspecified age.

"Sadie, Kate, Victoria and all that lot will always be socially bankable," continues Adam. "But they are classics, the Grange Hill of night life, if you like. This lot are the naughty fifth-form girls. I'm not being disrespectful to the previous lot, but there's a new gang in town."

Teen-Its hang out, not at Tramp, but at places like The Stork Rooms, off Regent Street and Bondai, a subterranean bar on the Fulham Road "beach". "This lot are more wild," says Bondai proprietor Ed Taylor, "but they are more streetwise. They won't get their fingers burnt like some former It girls."

Cool events, such as the recent "Blonde" party, are also a major draw for Teen-Its. A self-consciously ironic, bimbo night for the Pink Ribbon Breast Cancer charity at The Embassy club, run by Emily Crompton (Tatler's June "party girl of the month"), Blonde saw Teen-Its such as Alice Deen (Nina Campbell's daughter, Geri Halliwell's flatmate), Camilla Jackson (who rode topless on a horse at a recent countryside march), Octavia Khashoggi and Fran Hickman arrive early for a strictly girl-only pampering hour and cocktails, before the boys, who included Robbie Williams, were finally let in at 10pm.

The whole fun, fast-lane philosophy of the Teen-It lifestyle is a highfalutin, hedonistic, vodka-shot-fuelled spoof of the spoiled, dippy and over-PR'd, carefully "wild" ethos employed by the likes of Paris Hilton (sample quote: "I can't stand flying coach. I hate all the kids in the back. It stinks and it's gross."). "I mean, how sad to have a 21st birthday party where you don't even know half the people there," says Blonde's Emily Crompton of Paris Hilton's do. "We don't want to be like all those girls who get dressed up and get photographed at those boring PR events. We want to have a laugh."
