Meet Falcarius, the carnivorous veggie

A two-legged, feathered dinosaur has been caught in the act of evolving from a carnivore to a herbivore.

The bones of the 4m (12ft) Falcarius utahensis were found in Utah and show the transition from its carnivorous ancestors was still in progress.

'It's our first really good case of a dinosaur in the midst of shifting from the meat-eating body to a plant-eating one,' expert Thomas R Holtz Jr told the journal Nature.

'It's definitely eating a substantial amount of plants but we still see the original imprint of meat-eating upon it.'

The species would have lived 125 million years ago.
