Man in intensive care after knife attack by thieves

A 30-year-old man was critically ill today after being stabbed in the stomach and slashed across the face by a gang of teenagers he disturbed breaking into his car.

The attack, described by police as "vicious", happened in Kingstanding, Birmingham, at 2.30am yesterday. The victim is in intensive care after undergoing surgery. West Midlands Police are hunting four boys and two girls, and believe at least one will have bloodstained clothing.

Last week DJ Tushar Makwana, 37, died after he disturbed burglars at his Birmingham home. Police believe he was run over as the thieves fled.
