Make-up artist on crutches and in towel helped catch burglar

A celebrity make-up artist caught a burglar while wearing a towel after stepping out of her bath.

Gia Mills - who was also on crutches - found the thief trying to steal a laptop from her flat in Notting Hill.

She chased him off and tracked him down the street, as he tried to raid her neighbours' homes, until police arrived to arrest him.

Ms Mills, 35, who has worked for Kevin Spacey and Sir Tom Jones as well as top fashion photographers, was praised by officers after surprising the burglar at her garden flat at 10am on a Sunday.

She said today: "I had just got out of the bath when I caught him trying to come into my bedroom.

"He had opened the window from outside and was poking a stick through the security bars, trying to pick up my laptop bag.

"I was shocked and said, 'What are you doing?' He just nonchalantly walked away. It was all quite unnerving. I quickly got dressed and when I went outside I could see him looking into the other houses.

"I was hobbling on crutches after injuring my ankle, but I was able to hide and watch what he was doing while I called the police.

"The police were very prompt and efficient and two cars came straight away."
