Madonna tops best-dressed poll

Madonna and artist Sam Taylor-Wood have topped a new poll of the best-dressed women in Britain.

The Queen of Pop, who lives in London with husband Guy Ritchie and their children, was described as a "real fashion icon" and came top in the list of most stylish women aged over 40. Artist Sam Taylor-Wood, 37, was praised for her "girly" and "creative" look. She topped the poll of best-dressed women under 40.

A panel of expert judges, including fashion designer Jeff Banks, decided on who made the best-dressed list in the new issue of Good Housekeeping magazine.

Kill Bill star Uma Thurman won best dressed on the international list. Judges said of her: "With her own innate sense of style, she looks just as good in jeans as in a red-carpet dress."

Audrey Hepburn was named as the ultimate all-time style icon.
