Liam's 'cocaine brawl'

Liam Gallagher was high on cocaine and alcohol when he took part in a brawl in which he allegedly attacked a German police officer.

The Oasis frontman could face criminal charges after tests revealed he had significant traces of the drug in his body during the fight.

Prosecutors today described him as having been "totally drunk" and "the worst one of the entire episode".

Gallagher was beaten up by a group of estate agents and a computer salesman in a Munich nightclub 17 months ago after he and other members of the band flicked peanuts at their table. The singer lost his front teeth in the brawl, which left most of the club's furniture wrecked.

Gallagher's attackers are likely to be charged with causing grievous bodily harm, while he could face proceedings resulting in a fine or suspended sentence. He allegedly kicked one policeman in the genitals and hurled foulmouthed abuse at others.

Munich's chief prosecutor Anton Winkler said today that blood tests after the star's arrest showed he was drunk and had been using cocaine.

Other members of Oasis and their entourage - Allen White, Steven Allen and Philip Bevan Smith - are also under investigation and could be charged.

The fight began after one of the Oasis party jumped on the table where the businessmen were sitting. A glass display case was reportedly smashed and the fragments used as weapons.

At one stage Gallagher, minus two front teeth, is said to have whirled a microphone stand around like a battleaxe.

Eighty police were sent, but only Gallagher was taken into custody. The "leader" of the businessmen alle gedly knocked out two Oasis bodyguards with a brass ashtray.

The prosecutor's office says "in all probability" a prosecution will follow. Gallagher has already paid a £170,000 fine. Prosecutors may find this sufficient not to lay new charges against him. A lawyer for one of the businessmen said: "We feel their fame will allow them to get off, though they started everything."
