Last-stop shop

We've all been there - pre-holiday panic. You've got 24 hours before your flight leaves, you're at work tomorrow, and you haven't got a bikini.

You thought last year's would do, but when you tried it on last night, you realised the elastic had gone in the pants, so they resemble your gran's knickers.

The sales are on and there's nothing left, except for size 8 or 16, or those tarty ones that even Jordan would avoid (well, maybe not).

There are, however, good bikinis still to be found. First stop should be a Heidi Klein boutique; Sadie Frost, Elle Macpherson, Kate Moss and Tara Palmer-Tomkinson are all fans.

The bikinis are expensive, but the best on the beach. They stock new designs all year round (and the changing rooms are lit from the side, which is much more flattering to your flab).

Otherwise, try the smart department stores - Harvey Nichols, Fenwick or Harrods. You can get the sunglasses at the airport.
