Kirsty walks into a fortune

NEWSNIGHT presenter Kirsty Wark could become a multi-millionaire by floating her production company Wark Clements on the stock market within the coming year. A trade sale is also being weighed up by Kirsty and her husband Alan Clements after landing a series of lucrative deals.

The broadcaster reveals how she made her money - and how she spends it - in an in-depth interview in Financial Mail's new monthly magazine, Money, which has just gone on sale.

She and her husband own 60% of Wark Clements, which is estimated to be worth £10m. Managing director Clements said: 'We have not ruled anything out or in - in a fast-moving business that would be foolish.'

Wark Clements has been in business for a decade, but only now has it hit the big time. It has signed a deal with the BBC worth up to £3m over two years. A further contract to produce a documentary on the First World War for Channel 4 is worth £2.5m.

Wark has also signed a new £750,000 three-year deal to stay with BBC2's Newsnight.
