Killer strikes in town centre

A murder probe was launched today after one man was found dead and another fighting for his life near a town centre park.

Police were called to Queen's Gardens, Croydon, in the early hours yesterday where they found a man aged about 40 with serious head injuries.

As he was taken to hospital, officers scouring the area saw the body of a second man, in his fifties, in a nearby underground car park. He had been attacked with a screwdriver.
