“We are carrying out the works over the winter period to try to minimise disruption to park users.”
The parks project is part of a £54million investment in cycle networks across the capital. The cycle grid is part of Boris Johnson’s 10-year plan to make cycling in London safer and easier.
As well as building works on the path, the Black Lion and Palace gates at either end will be modified to create more space for pedestrians and cyclists as part of the scheme.
The route will also form part of the "quietway" network linking easier cycle routes across London. The project is scheduled to be completed and opened to the public in the summer.
