Just 12% back hunt demos

Only one in eight voters in London and the South-East support pro-hunting protests, says a new poll.

The London Voice survey of 1,202 people in the capital and nearby counties found 12 per cent were pro-hunting and backed the protests. Nine per cent were pro-hunting but did not support the protesters' actions. That suggests even hunt supporters have been put off by the tactics of campaigners.

Forty per cent of people opposed hunting and wanted it banned as soon as possible, while 39 per cent were not bothered either way.

The survey was carried out between 23 and 27 September, before activists dumped dead horses in Brighton at the Labour conference but after the intrusion at the House of Commons.
