'JP Morgan banker raped me'

A woman today told how she was raped by a high-flying City executive on a Valentine's Day date.

The 29-year-old Dutch woman, who cannot be named, met JP Morgan banker Klaus Green through an internet dating service.

Southwark Crown Court heard today how the couple had enjoyed a champagne dinner party at the Hampstead home of Mr Green's boss followed by several tequilas at a bar before going back to Mr Green's flat in Islington.

Giving evidence from behind a screen, the woman said she was left alone in the dark before walking in on Mr Green in the shower.

"His face was not smiling and gentle any more," she said. "The next thing I remember is being on the bed in his bedroom. He was having sex with me, I was surprised and I did not feel comfortable with it. I tried to push him away but he just continued."

The alleged victim said he continued having violent sex with her.

She then managed to flee to the bathroom, bleeding heavily from an internal cut. But she said Mr Green tried to force her to perform another sexual act.

"I pushed him away, I believe I was crying, I felt very dirty," she said. "I was disgusted". The court heard that the couple had exchanged emails and pictures of each other for a year before agreeing to meet on Valentine's Day. She said that she found she "really liked" the banker and had kissed him "passionately".

She agreed to go home with him and said he acted like "an over-excited little boy" on the walk home from the bar.

"I'd only known him for such a short time but I trusted him and, to be honest, if the evening had developed in a pleasant way... there was a high chance I would have ended up having sex with him," she told the court.

But the woman claims Mr Green's dark and squalid flat left her feeling "completely freaked and panicky".

The woman said that after walking in on Mr Green having a shower, her next memory was waking to find herself naked apart from her bra, with Mr Green raping her. He then chased her into the bathroom and tried to make her perform a sex act on him.

The court heard she left Mr Green lying on the sofa listening to music as she fled to a nearby hotel where staff called police after seeing her white trousers covered in blood.

She said she had taken a blood-stained towel and t-shirt as evidence "in case no one believed me" - but later dumped them in a bin because she was "too weak" to carry the items.

Kim Jenkins, defending Mr Green, who works in JP Morgan's fixed income sales department, suggested the sex was consensual and that her story was " fantasy".

The woman replied: "I feel very hurt by you saying that."

The court heard that when first interviewed by police the woman told them she had become separated from her friends and had gone home with a man called Charles.

Asked why she lied she said: "I was afraid of him, from the state of his apartment I realised he could do perhaps worse things to me."

Finnish-born Mr Green, now of Tower Bridge, denies one count of rape and one of indecent assault.
