Jenkins: My horrendous Billie-Jo discovery

Former deputy headteacher Si?enkins today described in graphic detail how he found his foster daughter Billie-Jo lying dead at their home.

He told the Old Bailey, where he is being retried for the murder of the 13-year-old, that the scene was "horrendous".

Billie-Jo had head injuries and was lying on the patio where she had been painting doors earlier in the day on 15 February 1997, he said. The court heard that he had returned to the house in Hastings, East Sussex, with two of his natural daughters, Annie and Lottie.

Jenkins said: "We went into the dining room. Lottie screamed out and Billie was lying in a pool of blood on the patio.

"She was lying on her side with her left leg straight out and her left arm stretched out behind her back.

"Her right shoulder was raised and her left cheek was on the floor.

"I went straight to her. The girls were behind me in the dining room. I went right to Billie on the patio. The scene was horrendous"

Jenkins, 47, from Aberystwyth, denies murder.
