Sir Mick has defied calls for a tourism boycott of Burma to spend

According to reports, the 60-year-old Rolling Stones singer spent five days in capital city Yangon, formerly known as Rangoon, accompanied by
a female companion in her late twenties.

The news of Sir Mick's visit will outrage British campaigners who have joined the international move to urge tourists to
boycott Burma, which calls itself Myanmar.

Despite this Sir Mick flew in, with his female companion and a bodyguard, by private jet last Friday.

The singer and his small entourage stayed at the luxurious, five-star Strand
Hotel in the capital at the cost of around £500 a night. They left yesterday.

"Mick Jagger's visit is private and confidential," said a spokesman from Abercrombie and Kent Travel in Yangon, which was involved with the star's travel arrangements.
