The last thing a blushing bride needs is for her big day to be overshadowed by a celebrity or two.

Pity, then, poor Davinia Taylor - who had to share the limelight with Britain's most famous footballer and his pop-star wife.

Former Hollyoaks actress Davinia, 25, tied the knot at the weekend with sports agent Dave Gardner, 27 - one of David Beckham's oldest friends.

The England captain and his former Manchester United team-mate, Phil Neville, were joint best men, while Davinia's bridesmaids included

Atomic Kitten singer Jenny Frost. The cream of North-West society was among the 300 guests at Chelford, Cheshire.

Davinia's father, paper mill tycoon Alan Murphy, was left to pick up the £875,000 bill after a £1million magazine deal to photograph the wedding fell through. However, the sum is unlikely to trouble a man with a fortune estimated at £150million.

Victoria, in a lacy peach dress, and son Brooklyn, a white-suited pageboy,
waved at a crowd of 50 well-wishers as they arrived by Bentley at St John the Evangelist Church. The crowd screamed as Beckham, in black suit and black tie, emerged from his car.

Davinia wore a £50,000 ivory and silver dress for the ceremony which featured the Salford Hospitals Choir.

Guests, including Noel Gallagher's ex-wife Meg Matthews, Manchester United star Gary Neville and other cast members from Hollyoaks, later partied the night away at the bride's mother's home nearby.

A marquee and stage were erected in the garden of the £5million property, with 1980s soul group Sister Sledge as the star turn.

Beckham and Phil Neville gave a joint speech before toasting the six bridesmaids.

Rev Ian Sparks, the vicar of St John's, said: 'There was a lot of local excitement about the big event.

'We had to draft in a couple of extra bell ringers and our organ player was getting quite nervous.'

Gardner, who co- owns sports agency Elite with Sir Alex Ferguson's son Jason, showered his fiancèe with gifts including an £89,000 Mercedes and a £40,000 engagement ring.

Now that Beckham has joined Real Madrid, the Gardners are reported to be interested in buying his former home - a £1.7million converted barn in the nearby village of Nether Alderley.
