The Hollywood actor met his Welsh darling bud at the Deauville Film Festival in September 1998.

The Lock Stock star and the starlet met on holiday nearly six years ago in a bar in Greece.

He said: "When Kelly walked in, I was just bowled over. I thought she was the most amazing girl I had ever seen. She really had an instant effect on me and I thought to myself: 'I have to get to know her.' It makes me so proud to know she's my girlfriend."

She said: "I'm convinced it was fate. Neither of us was well known, we're from similar backgrounds, we've got the same work ethic, both of us had done modelling, and we love sport and dancing. If we hadn't met in Greece, it would have been somewhere else."

The recently married couple reportedly met backstage at a Coldplay gig in autumn 2002, shortly after the death of Paltrow's father.
