Highgrove set spells trouble

The circle of friends that surrounds Prince Harry is known as Club H - not because it is named after him, but because it grew from gatherings sanctioned by Prince Charles in the cellars of Highgrove.

One of the most celebrated members is Harry Meade, son of Olympic triple gold medallist horseman Richard Meade. It was at Harry Meade's 22nd birthday party that Prince Harry showed off his swastika uniform.

Harry Meade was one of six protesters who interrupted Tony Blair's speech at the Labour Party conference. He was at the head of a band of pro-hunt campaigners.

Guy Pelly, son of a Kent landowner, is rarely absent from the informal club's meetings. He is one of Harry's closest friends. Wrongly identified as having introduced the prince to drugs, he has recently been back in favour and is often seen with the prince at Twickenham or in clubs.

Venues changed for the Highgrove set but centred on the polo scene, and the group moved from meeting at Cirencester Polo Club to the smaller Beaufort Polo Club, owned by the royals' friends, landowner Captain Simon Tomlinson and his wife Claire. The Tomlinson children Emma, 27, Luke, 24, and Mark, 21, are all close friends of Harry and William.

Mark is probably closest to Harry, and joins him on skiing trips. In 2000, Emma posed naked - her modesty protected by fruit salad - for a saucy cookbook organised by the Beaufort Hunt in aid of a breast cancer charity.

The rest of the set includes Harry Legge-Bourke, 32, younger brother of onetime royal nanny Tiggy, now the wife of businessman Charles Pettifer. An ex-Army officer who was aide de camp to the former Chief of the Defence Staff General Sir Charles Guthrie, and who once had designs on being William's first appointed equerry, he now works in the City.

As for girls, a particular favourite is Natalie Hicks-Lobbecke, who works for a film production company and is known to the boys as "Nats".

She is the 24-year-old daughter of an Army officer and went to Bristol University, after being head girl at Warminster School.

Another is Davina Duckworth-Chad, a 25-year-old model who became known as the "deb on the web" when Country Life featured her on the internet. Her mother, Elizabeth, was a first cousin to Princess Diana and her father inherited a 2,000-acre estate near Sandringham.

Prince Harry met Suzannah Harvey, the model daughter of a local businessman, at the Beaufort Hunt Ball in

2001.

While members of Club H come from backgrounds of wealth and privilege, they are not always the sharpest knives in the drawer. The partygoer who sold pictures of Harry in his swastika gear to The Sun initially thought his best pictures were shots of Prince William in a lion outfit.
