Hack attack 'threatens web'

A Coordinated attempt to hack into some of the world's most powerful super computers in the last few weeks could bring down the Internet, experts have warned.

America's Stanford University, the US National Center for Atmospheric Research and the San Diego Supercomputer Center were among the systems hit. Peter Allor, of Internet Security Systems, said hackers could harness their massive Internet bandwidth to disrupt major websites and e-mail systems.
