Grandmother raped twice on way to work

A grandmother was raped twice as she walked to work. Her attacker grabbed his 64-year-old victim by the neck after following her down a road in north London.

A senior detective described the rape as "horrific" and said: "Her ordeal lasted for over an hour and left her in considerable shock."

The attack happened in Langhedge Lane, Edmonton, at 5am on Sunday. The man pushed the woman to the ground and raped her. After a brief struggle the woman managed to free herself and ran into a nearby alleyway. But her attacker followed her and raped her for a second time.

The man is believed to be 6ft, in his early twenties and police said he spoke in broken English and could be Eastern European or Asian.
