Golden Jubilee: What's on where

The nation will celebrate the Queen's Golden Jubilee with four days of events. We look at the official celebrations in central London and check out the best viewpoints.

Saturday

8pm Prom At The Palace. Classical musicians including Dame Kiri te Kanawa, Sir Thomas Allen, the BBC Symphony Orchestra, Angela Gheorgiu and Roberto Alagna and child prodigy Julian Bliss. Tickets for more than 12,000 concertgoers have already been allocated.

Where to watch: giant screens on The Mall, Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and Green Park will show the concert live. It will be shown on BBC1 and Radio 3 at 8.15pm.

Sunday

11.15am The Queen and Prince Philip attend a Jubilee church service at St George's Chapel, Windsor.

Churches across the country hold services and ring bells.

Monday

11am BBC Music Live free music festival in Hyde Park, with five stages along the Serpentine. Performers include Ladysmith Black Mambazo and Courtney Pine.

1pm The Queen, in Slough, launches a nationwide sing-along of The Beatles' hit All You Need Is Love, the official jubilee anthem. The song is being sung live on BBC 1 and Radio 1 at 1pm.

7pm Party At The Palace. Stars include Sir Paul McCartney, Sir Cliff Richard, Dame Shirley Bassey, Rod Stewart, Joe Cocker, Ozzy Osborne and Brian Wilson, as well as more modern performers such as Atomic Kitten, Emma Bunton, Ricky Martin and SClub7, on a specially-constructed stage at Buckingham Palace. Tickets for more than 12,000 concertgoers have already been allocated.

Where to watch: giant screens on The Mall, in Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and Green Park will broadcast the concert live, as will BBC1 and Radio 2 from 7.30pm.

10.45pm The Queen walks out of the Palace to light the Golden Jubilee National Beacon in front of the Queen Victoria Memorial, completing a worldwide chain of more than 1,800 beacons. The lighting starts a 15-minute light, music and fireworks show. During the Son Et Lumiere, almost three tonnes of fireworks will be set off from Buckingham Palace roof, Green Park and Queen Victoria Memorial, which has been turned into a spectacular fountain.

Where to watch: giant screens on The Mall, in Hyde Park, Trafalgar Square and Green Park. Live on BBC1 and Radio 2. Good weather will mean the fireworks will be visible across London.

Tuesday

10.40am The Queen sets off from Buckingham Palace in the Golden State Coach for St Paul's, with Prince Charles and Princess Anne riding behind, escorted by mounted bands and cavalry.

Where to watch: screens on The Mall, in Green Park, Hyde Park and Trafalgar Square will show the procession, as will BBC1 from 9.25am.

11.10am The procession halts at Temple Bar where the Lord Mayor of London offers the Queen the Pearl Sword.

11.30am The Queen enters St Paul's Cathedral through the Great West Doors for the hour-long Service of Thanksgiving. Seats inside have been allocated but the service will be shown on the big screens. Church bells across the country will ring at the start and end of the service.

12.35pm Concerts begin on the stages outside Buckingham Palace. Acts include Morriston Orpheus Choir and Golden Jubilee Steel Orchestra.

12.40pm The Queen arrives for lunch at the Guildhall. Speeches will be shown on the big screens and live on BBC1.

1.40pm The Notting Hill Carnival procession sets off from Admiralty Arch to make its way to Buckingham Palace, marking the start of the afternoon's parades.

Where to watch: each side of The Mall, as well as on big screens. Live coverage begins at 2pm on BBC 1.

2.30pm Children's procession, made up of 1,000 young people singing a specially composed song.

3.35pm The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh make their way up The Mall with 400 children waving gold ribbons ahead of them.

3.45pm Services Parade, watched by the Queen and Prince Philip from a royal box in front of the Queen Victoria Memorial, sets off. Children, personnel from emergency services, armed forces and voluntary services all take part.

4.15pm 50 Years Parade, representing how life has changed from 1952 to 2002.

4.35pm Commonwealth Parade, with 5,000 performers from 54 countries.

5.35pm The Queen unveils a specially-designed tapestry which will hang from Buckingham Palace's balcony.

5.55pm The Queen watches from the balcony as the celebrations end with a flypast low over The Mall by 26 RAF aircraft, including a giant C-17, Tornado fighters, Concorde and the Red Arrows.
