Get your skates on for big ice season

The ice skating season is about to get under way in the capital with more rinks than ever.

Locations include old favourites such as Somerset House and Kew Gardens as well as a new rink in Hyde Park, which is said to be the largest in Europe.

The first of the rinks opens today at the Broadgate Centre in the City, followed by the Natural History Museum tomorrow.

Somerset House launches its rink on 20 November with a winter party and the lighting of the 40ft Tiffany Tree.

The rink opens the following day but the Evening Standard is offering Eros card holders exclusive tickets for Sunday 18 November. These will be released later this week through our Reader Rewards page.

Somerset House's Friday Music Nights will kick off with a Bollywood On Ice theme on 23 and 30 November. Raj and Pablo, the stars of BBC Asian Network's Love Bollywood show, will fill the courtyard with Bollywood beats. Free sessions for children and a Jayne Torvill skate school are among this year's other attractions.
