What could possibly be better than having a gun in your hand, and wasting the enemy like there's no tomorrow (there isn't for them)? Having two blazing guns, of course, and charging into the bad guys as if you've come over all John Woo. And Time Crisis 2 allows such a feat.

Effectively a straight arcade-to-console affair, TC2 is sharper, faster and even more fun than the original. There's the main story mode, divided into three levels, each one of those subdivided. But to unlock most of the other games you'll have to complete the whole of the story, which you must do in one sitting (it takes about an hour). The new G-Con 2 gun (which comes with the game) is more accurate than its predecessor, which you can also use with TC2.

It also has a few more useful buttons scattered around for reloading your piece. As far as the game goes, there's no gripes or moans from me - this is solid-gold entertainment. It's the ache in my arms that I'm worried about. (NP)

The Weakest Link

Anne Robinson, the titian tyrant, is cashing in on PlayStation 2. It's a copy of the show - contestants answer questions in turn to earn money, and after each round someone must be voted off. You can play a single-player championship and multiplayer games.

You can also adjust the questions in terms of category and difficulty, and change things like how many players you start with and, best of all, how much abuse a contestant gets when they're voted off. As we know with Who Wants To Be A Millionaire, these games don't work: loading takes forever.

The only reason to grab a copy of this game is for the other contestants. They all have their own 'personalities', from Lucinda, who runs a Kensington catering company, to Eddie, a truck driver from Wigan. If anybody is going to make you feel better about yourself, this lot will. (HM)
