The fighter-plane version of chopper games such as Operation Thunderhawk, this is a mission-based fly-by, loosely based on the Tom 'Cuban Heels' Cruise movie. What makes this a decent ride is the way the controls have been sensibly laid out - this is no flight-simulator, but an airborne shoot-'em-up.
With four areas of combat and a range of aircraft to fly with (though you start with a Tomcat and have to work your way up), there's enough variation to not have the missions feel too repetitive. A great way of getting high without having to travel to the North Peckham Estate. (NP)

Arctic Thunder

Midway are famous for producing arcade games, but they've recently been dabbling in the world of consoles, most recently doing a top job on Spyhunter. Arctic Thunder is a snowmobile racing game where the object is not only to win, but also to blast your opponents to smithereens in the process.
But while the arcade version was a great game, this PlayStation 2 version lacks... well, everything. The design and graphics are disjointed, the gameplay is nothing we haven't encountered before, and the multiplayer mode is a total wash-out. Big disappointment. Take my advice and leave this one out in the cold. (HM)
