Waddya want? You want quick, simple play, an after-the-pub bit of fun? Try Pro Evolution Soccer. It doesn't mess about, but gets straight to the action, even if spurious teams, such as London, are included. But if easy is a word you scoff at, then EA's FIFA 2002 comes with a pedigree that's hard to match.
Thorough, impressive and with subtle nuances built in to give the real flavour of footie, this takes a bit of time and patience to get to grips with. While it's no great leap from FIFA 2001, 2002 is bang up-to-date with all the new team changes. Although the Ipswich side was very poor. (NP)

Crash Bandicoot: The Wrath of Cortex

It's the first outing for Crash on PS2, after selling a million on PS1. This new adventure plays like his previous incarnations, but with a wider assortment of games, including flying a gyrocopter, riding a scooter and driving a jeep. With 30 levels of gameplay, you're unlikely to be bored as you once again pit Crash against his arch nemesis, Dr Cortex, and his cronies.
The graphics are good, but you're unlikely to be astounded at them: they're a polished-up version of the earlier games. There's not that many good games for the young uns out there, so this usefully fills that void. (NP)
