For hardcore fighting gamers, Capcom Vs SNK was a proper treat. To the uninitiated, it's a 2D Streetfighter-type deal, with about a million different moves for the user to learn. But now Virgin has stepped into this market with Guilty Gear X (yes, I know it's a dumb name), a 2D fighter that is equally, if not more impressive.
The two-dimensional angle may sound limiting, but when you see the game in action, the animation creates a beautifully fluid-looking game. The raft of fighters is not huge, but their individual moves will take you decades to get to grips with completely. Guilty Gear X is a game aimed at a very specific market, one that is possibly harder to please than any other gamer type. Which is why it's so important GGX delivers. And it does... in spades.
To give you an extra helping hand, there's an excellent website to help you get to grips with it, detailing each fighter's special moves, at guiltygearx.com . (NP)
