Although this came out as a lauch title for the PS2, it's worth taking another look at Timesplitters now that it's being released as a Platinum title (rrp £19.99). It's a first-person shooter stripped down to the most basic elements. TimeSplitters focuses on a strong multiplayer element and delivers a first-person shooter that is totally addictive. Arcade mode means taking part in a host of one-player and team events. In story mode, you can travel through time, playing as various characters from different eras. But be prepared, this game is fast. Not just ordinary fast, but pull-the-skin-back-on-your-face fast. I've searched for faults in this game, but there just aren't any to be found. The graphics are slick and shiny, the soundtrack is diverse, complementing the eras in which you fight, and the action is fast, frantic and undying. What more could a little lady like me want? (HM)
