At last, proof that there is a place with more terrifying traffic than London. In one of Moto Racer 3's six motorcycle modes you race the congested streets of Paris. Dodge maniac French drivers who change lanes at inopportune moments, turn without indicating and brake hard for no reason. When you've had enough bone-crunching, swap to one of the five other game modes, including "Speed" for racing-track superbikes, "Motocross" for dirt-track racing and the superb "Trial" mode.
Like entrants in cult-classic TV-show Kick Start, this means jumping, bouncing and shimmying your bike across a man-made assault course of barrels, planks and platforms. Great fun, even if you think two wheels good, four wheels better.

Star Trek: Armada II

The Star Trek universe should be ideal for a space-based, real-time strategy game. Different, but well-balanced species, each packing an array of ships, techno-gadgetry and weaponry. Unfortunately, Armada II manages to make a sow's ear of it. The three single-player modes let you play as Klingons, Borg or Federation forces.
But the strategy remains the same no matter which you choose. Build loads of ships, sit them in front of your enemy and press fire. And the fully three-dimensional battlefield turns out to be fairly pointless. Unless you're a die-hard Trekkie, avoid.
