The lovely Ecco first made an appearance on the Dreamcast. As of now he has found a new fish pond on the PlayStation 2. The game is exactly the same as the Dreamcast version but, as the saying goes, if it ain't broke blah blah blah.
Ecco's job is to complete a number of objectives, kicking off with relatively minor tasks, such as freeing a cute little baby whale trapped behind a rockslide, or defeating evil sharks that roam in a particular part of the sea. As things move on, you're required to take on larger, more complex assignments. And this is when it all goes a bit science-fiction, something about the machinations of the 'Foe' and their evil activities to conquer the planet. Forget all that.
Ecco's a chilled-out, pleasing game that will have you yearning for a dip in the ocean. (HM)
