Foxy Knoxy tells of jail marriage proposals

The woman accused of the murder of Briton Meredith Kercher today revealed she has received letters from 35 admirers while in an Italian prison.

Prison diaries written by Amanda Knox, who is known as Foxy Knoxy, reveal that she also received marriage proposals while remanded in jail accused of the murder of the British exchange student.

Knox, 20, is one of three suspects in the murder of Ms Kercher, who was found semi-naked with her throat cut seven months ago at the apartment she shared with Knox.

The accusedwoman writes in her diary - which was leaked to the Italian media - how she has received more than 35 letters. One said: "I love you, I want to marry you." Another fan wrote: "I want to know all about the girl who has the face of an angel."

Knox writes in the diary, which she began the day she entered prison: "I wonder if I would have had these letters if I was ugly." She added: "I will write back to all of these people but only when I am out of here."

Knox also wrote of her hopes that she would be released by last Christmas - but instead she remains behind bars. Prosecutors in Perugia, where Ms Kercher was murdered, submitted the diary as part of their 10,000-page bundle of evidence against Knox and her boyfriend Raffele Sollecito, 24, and Rudy Guede, 20.

Prosecutors have recommended that all three should be charged with murder and sexual violence, as well as theft.

Defence lawyers have until the middle of next month to go through 12 boxes of evidence and decide if they wish to make any further requests before prosecutor Giuliano Mignini makes a formal request for the three to be charged.

Leeds University student Ms Kercher, from Croydon, arrived in Perugia as part of a study programme two months before she was murdered in November.
