Fourth man held over carjack killing

A fourth man has been arrested in connection with the Battersea murder of estate agent Tim Robinson.

Earlier, three men aged 17, 18 and 20, were detained in early morning raids on addresses across London.

All were taken to separate police stations in the southwest of the capital and are being interviewed by murder squad detectives.

The arrests - described by police as "a significant development" - come 11 days after Mr Robinson, 25, was attacked by two men outside his flat in Warriner Gardens.

The fourth man, aged 19, was arrested later after voluntarily going to a police station. He is being held at a separate station in south London.

Mr Robinson had just picked up his girlfriend Jemma Joyce from the West End in his £20,000 Audi Quattro and was parking it when he was stabbed in the chest and face. One wound to the heart proved fatal.

Forensic experts are still examining two cars recovered from the scene, including Mr Robinson's Audi, and one police source said the inquiry was expected to be "lengthy".

Police said the attack appeared motiveless but it was possibly an intended carjacking or a robbery.

However, another theory is that the murder was linked to a row involving a pirate radio station operating illegally in a business premises near Mr Robinson's flat.

It emerged that he was among residents who complained repeatedly about trouble connected to the station. Just hours after the stabbing, it shut down and those involved disappeared. Now police are trying to find the organisers.

One neighbour, reluctant to be named, confirmed he had discussed the problems caused by the station with Mr Robinson.

He said: "For the last two months the street became like gangland after dark. There was loud music and lots of youths shouting in the street and it was getting really annoying. But the night after Tim was attacked they suddenly disappeared. They were doing something illegal anyway and now they want to lie low."

Another neighbour said the street felt "aggressive" while the station was operating, but disturbances had dropped off since the attack.

Kevin Clark, manager of the South Bank Business Park, near Mr Robinson's flat, denied a pirate radio station was operating from the premises and suggested previous disturbances could have been linked to a minicab company which previously rented the site.

But a Met spokesman said the premises were known to investigators. He added: "We are aware of the existence of a pirate radio station near the scene of the crime."
