Homes and Property | Home PageFootage shows fire crews battling huge blaze at recycling centreMichael Clarke30 March 2016Footage has captured the extent of a huge fire at a recycling factory that continues to burn nearly 24 hours after being reported.The fire in Clarel Avenue, Birmingham, involving up to 800 tonnes of mixed plastic, rubber and metal, started at around 2pm on Tuesday.Around 70 firefighters are continuing to tackle the blaze at the scrap metal recycling centre.West Midlands Fire Service said crews made "good progress" in dealing with the fire overnight despite challenging conditions.A statement from the fire service said: "We're likely to remain there for a good part of today."Firefighters fight a blaze in Birmingham involving up to 800 tonnes of mixed plastic, rubber and metal West Midlands Fire Service/PA WireThe footage shows the continuing effort by the fire service to try and stop the flames that could be seen across the city.
