Flirting tips

Jamie Walters|Metro

1. Stand tall

Shuffling along with hunched shoulders will not get you noticed. Walk Liz Hurley style: hold your head high and put your chest out.

2. Flattery gets you everywhere

Boys - Compliment her outfit. Don't say: 'You don't get many of them to a pound.' Girls - Accept compliments and don't point out all flaws like your orangepeel thighs.

3. Watch for signals:

Girls - Running your fingers through your hair gives off sex hormones, so girls, get preening. Boys - If she's doing that hair thing, touching her face or playing with her glass, she's interested.

4. The smile test:

Judging the best time to approach your 'target' can be tricky, so look out for a smile in your direction. Drop your eyes for a count of four then look back - if he/she is still looking and smiling, time for the first move.

5. To kiss or not to kiss:

Boys - Drop your voice to see if she moves closer. If she doesn't recoil in horror, the coast is clear.

Girls - If you don't want to make the first move, position yourself so he'll have to brush against you.
