First picture of tragic twins

This is the first picture of twins Betsy and William Woodbridge, who died when a chest of drawers toppled on them.

Their pregnant mother, Louise, found the two-year-olds in a bedroom at their home in Winkfield, Berkshire.

Mrs Woodbridge, 33, was downstairs with her mother when the tragedy happened on Monday afternoon.

She and her husband Paul said today: "Words cannot begin to express the great loss of our two beautiful children who meant the world to us and our entire family.

"They were both such happy and loved children. We are simply devastated."

The couple were with family friends as they comforted their elder children Ben, 10, and fouryearold Lily, who were at school at the time of the accident.

It was understood that the twins had pulled out the chest's drawers

to form steps and were clambering up the piece of furniture when it fell on them.

A post mortem examination revealed they died of asphyxiation, caused by the weight of the unit.

An inquest has been opened and adjourned and police said there were no suspicious circumstances. A private funeral will be held on Tuesday at St Mary's Church in Winkfield.

Mrs Woodbridge's father is one of Britain's wealthiest men - Norman Grundon, of Grundon Waste Management, Britain's largest privatelyowned-waste company. Mr Woodbridge-37, who works for his fatherinlaw's firm, was not at home at the time of the accident.

Mr Grundon's wife Frances told today how she and her daughter, who is about six months pregnant, had taken the twins upstairs for an afternoon nap when they heard the crash.

Speaking at her multi-million pound estate in Hedgerley, Buckinghamshire, Mrs Grundon said the pair were "absolutely lovely children".

She added: "All I can say is that they were sent from heaven and now they are gone.

"My daughter was the world's best mother and now this has happened."

Well-wishers were seen arriving at the home with flowers and cards of sympathy.
