Eton teacher admits child porn charges

A former teacher at Eton today pleaded guilty to downloading 2,000 images of boys from the internet.

Ian McAuslan, 54, admitted possessing and making indecent images of children at Bracknell Magistrates Court. He now faces imprisonment after the magistrates decided he should be sentenced at Reading Crown Court.

McAuslan, from Southampton, resigned as a classics teacher when he was arrested this year. The court heard the images were found when he took his computer to the school's IT department for an upgrade.

Anne Conway, prosecuting, said the computer was seized for examination by Thames Valley Police's hi-tech crime unit. 200 of the 2,000 images were indecent, the court heard. Christopher Hayes, defending, said: "This was a compartmentalised activity relating to a totally separate world from his career."
