Dynamite blows Brits away

R&B star Ms Dynamite was Queen of the Brits last night as she picked up two prizes and led the music world protest against war on Iraq.

The singer crowned her astonishing year with awards for Best British Female and Best British Urban Act.

She joined Coldplay, which also won two awards, in a stinging attack on the looming conflict in the Middle East. In a revamped version of George Michael's Faith, she changed the lyrics to include the line: 'I don't wanna to see children die no more/so I gotta make a stand.'

Coldplay's Chris Martin told the audience: 'We are all going to die when George Bush has his way. But at least we are going to go out with a bang.'

Ms Dynamite surprised the audience with her acceptance speech by suggesting she was married. The performer, who is expecting a child by bodyguard Dwayne Seaforth, said; 'Wow, thank you very, very much. Thank you to my mum, my dad, my brother, sister and husband.'

A spokesman for the star later denied she was married.

'She's just called him that. It's a figure of speech,' he said. Perennial winner Robbie Williams only managed one Brit this year. The singer, who recently split from model Rachel Hunter, accepted the Best British Male award via video-link in the style of a lonely hearts ad.

He said: 'Twenty-nine-year-old Aquarian, slightly chubby, chain-smoking, seeks boy or girl for fun nights of poker and AA meetings.'

Ascantily clad Kylie Minogue kept her legions of fans happy with a duet with Justin Timberlake, in which the US star cheekily grabbed her bottom.
