Stephen Smith, 26, said his brother, Brad, had died doing what he loved best and killing the shark would be a senseless act of revenge. Friends saw Brad, 29, trying desperately with his fists to beat off a shark "as wide as a car". Eyewitness reports suggest the shark was a Great White, the species featured in the film Jaws. Fisheries officers continued their hunt for the creature which ambushed Mr Smith near Margaret River. A post-mortem examination is to be carried out today and investigators hope to ascertain the species from teeth marks on the surf board.
