He was taken to Gravesend police station where he was interviewed under caution before being released on bail pending further enquiries. A spokesman for Scotland Yard said: "A serving Metropolitan Police Service detective inspector based at a south London borough was arrested by Kent Police on Friday in connection with an allegation of assault." Mr Amos, who was off duty at the time of the alleged incident, is head of the community safety unit at Greenwich, which investigates domestic violence and "hate" crimes. He has not been suspended from his job.
