'Doctors told me I was too fat to be a mother'

Natasha L'Aiguille has been refused free IVF treatment by three hospitals who said she is too fat to become a mother.

The PR executive and her husband Nigel, from Kent, have been trying for a baby for five years and have been advised she needs fertility treatment.

But NHS doctors say she they will not help the couple until she loses several stone in weight.

She claims she is being discriminated against because a hormone imbalance and hereditary diabetes are partly to blame for her weight problem, not merely over-eating. Mrs L'Aiguille said: "One doctor told me, 'How do you think people in concentration camps lose weight? They stopped eating.'"

She said she believes fertility drugs would actually help her hormone imbalance but she will be forced to take out a loan to pay for private IVF treatment.
