'Death threats' to moderates

The chairman of the mosque where Richard Reid worshipped is to release tapes of extremists calling for the execution of moderate Muslims who condemn terrorism.

Abdul Haqq Baker, 35, who runs the Brixton mosque that Reid attended, said he would be prepared to release audio tapes of extremist agents working for people like radical north London Islam cleric Abu Hamza, calling for the deaths of moderate Muslims.

Mr Baker said he knew of one Muslim, who voiced his anger at the outrages of 11 September and was called a hypocrite and threatened with death. He said: "When one extremist asked a crowd of supporters what they should do with this Muslim, they chanted 'Kill him! Kill him!'. This was in London."
