Danniella quits show

Actress Danniella Westbrook dramatically walked out of ITV reality show I'm A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here early today. The former soap star quit claiming she could no longer stand living in the jungle under the television spotlight after the public decided to vote off weather girl Sian Lloyd instead of her.

She is now in hiding with her businessman husband Kevin Jenkins at a five-star hotel after leaving the jungle in Queensland, Australia, at
2.30am after undergoing a medical and psychological evaluation.

More than 11 million viewers watched Westbrook, 29, break down in tears last night as Sian Lloyd was voted by the public to be the first to leave the show.

A source said: "A few hours after Sian left, Danniella decided she had had enough. She went down to the bush telegraph - where the contestants can speak one-on-one to the programme's producers - then burst into tears and said enough was enough and that she needed to get out and see her husband again." The insider added: "The show's producers talked to her for a long time, to check that she was sure she wanted to leave, before agreeing to come and get her if she was really serious."

Westbrook had a medical examination and an examination by psychologist Dr Sandra Scott before being driven to the five-star Palazzo Versace hotel on the Gold Coast to join her husband.

She had tried to leave the show before. On Sunday a tearful Westbrook walked out after telling producers she could not take it any longer. They persuaded her to return and she went back after less

The source added: "This time she is definitely not coming back. The first time she went she packed all her things and was in tears. This time she just disappeared and left everything behind.

"When Sian went she was in floods of tears, so upset that it wasn't her leaving. She has missed her husband and kids desperately and just decided that she had to go."

Yesterday, Westbrook - who has a six-year-old son Kai and a daughter Jodie B, aged 18 months - broke down in tears, saying : "I can't stand it. I really can't. I just hate it in here. I thought it would be fun but everyone is starving and starting to feel ill and really weak. I miss my kids and I miss my husband. Every day I just cry because I can't stand it. I just can't wait to be voted out."

The outburst forced Jenkins, a millionaire businessman, to demand that his wife should be allowed to quit.

He said: "I know how she feels in there. I feel sick that we're not together but it's harder for her since she's in the jungle." The former EastEnders star - who fought a 12-year £100,000 addiction to cocaine - wept last week as she said she had to see her husband and children. She said: "I haven't been away from them for this long since I have been clean. This isn't for me. I don't want to win. I'd like to be part of this unit, but my children mean more to me than work and all the publicity that comes with the programme.

"I am crying myself to sleep every night. I thought I'd be alright with it, but I'm not." She also broke down as she told the other nine contestants how her addiction to cocaine nearly killed her. She revealed that at the low point, her doctor told her she had only two weeks to live.

TV weather presenter Lloyd, 44, said she was "thrilled" to be out of the camp, telling the show's presenters Ant and Dec that she "hated" being in the jungle.

After being told she had voted off the show, she smiled and told the other celebrities: "I'm very happy, don't worry." She then joked: "I wish I'd washed my hair now!" Lloyd, the girlfriend of Liberal Democrat MP Lembit Opik, said she had not been prepared for how much she would miss him.

"I was so, so bored. Hours and hours with no telly, no books and no music. I really wasn't myself at all."

She added: "The boredom was 10 times worse than what I expected and the lack of food - because we all suffered from lack of food. The hours just dragged, dragged, dragged and I was going crazy with boredom."
