Crow takes legal action on PPP

Bob Crow, newly elected leader of the RMT, today took legal action in a lastditch effort to prevent the part-privatisation of London Underground.

His first order as general secretary also set the agenda for the union, whose new hard-Left chief campaigned in the leadership election on his opposition to the Tube sell- off and demands for the renationalisation of the railways.

The RMT has engaged barrister John Hendy QC, who represented the passengers and bereaved at the public inquiry into the Paddington crash.

Mr Crow said: "The union has started legal proceedings. This will be on the basis that the Health and Safety Executive has failed to oversee the public-private partnership properly. Secondly, that LU has failed to consult the staff safety representatives properly."
