Coach crash kills one and injures 51

Crash investigators were today looking for the cause of a collision between a coach and Land Rover that left one person dead and 51 injured.

The Land Rover driver died at the scene and the coach driver, a 53-year-old man, was seriously injured in the accident on the A286 near Brook, Surrey.

A 19-year-old passenger in the Land Rover suffered multiple injuries. A further 49 people on the coach were taken to hospital with a range of injuries.

The coach was returning to Chichester carrying a party of Jehovah's Witnesses, aged from eight to their mid-seventies, from a convention in Mill Hill.

None of the seriously injured on the coach were children.
