Clue to 'Yardie' murders

Police have discovered a vital clue in the hunt for the Yardie-style killer of two men found murdered within 24 hours of each other.

A car owned by Bryan McLeish, who is wanted for questioning following the deaths of Godfrey Scott and Ray Samuels, has been found abandoned in Bethnal Green.

It is now undergoing forensic tests and police hope it will yield up further evidence.

Detectives from the Met's Operation Trident - the unit dedicated to fighting black-onblack gun crime - are appealing for information about the movements of the gold Vauxhall Cavalier - registration G68 YLB - following the murders at the end of June. Scott, 35, was shot dead outside a house in Hainault Road, Leytonstone, and Samuels, 32, was found strangled to death in nearby Rangers Close. It is believed he was murdered at a house and then his body was dumped.

Detective Inspector Larry Lawrence: "I am appealing to anyone who might have seen this car to come forward and help us with our investigation. Hopefully this appeal will help us trace Bryan McLeish."

McLeish is described as black, 30 years old, 5ft 6in tall with short hair and a beard.
