Cannabis law eased

Cannabis is today downgraded from class B to C, the same status as anabolic steroids and anti-depressants.

Home Secretary David Blunkett's move to reclassify the drug, in the biggest shake-up in 30 years, means possession will not lead to arrest in most cases.

But the British Medical Association has said it is "extremely concerned" the move will mislead users into thinking cannabis is safe.
